| | Liquid Tension Experiment - Universal Mind | ] | Well, I got a bunch of CDs for my 19th b-day: When Dream and Day Reunite, the DT cover of Master of Puppets, Awake, and LTE. My only complaint is that I had asked for When Dream and Day Unite, not reunite. Oh well. Guess I'll have to buy that on my own. Also, I was finally allowed to raid my parent's liquor cabinet. Huzzah! |

| | Tchaikovsky - Symphony No. 6 in B minor | ] | Hmm. Haven't posted in a while. Then again, I was down in New Hampshire without teh intrawebs for xmas. That's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it. Anywho, got a 4GB iPod Nano for christmas, along with a set of Sennheiser HD280 Pro headphones (wewt!). Other than that, it was mostly clothing. It was good to see my nephews down in NH though (ages 3 and 5). We got to make snowmen, and pelt my sister-in-law/their mom with snowballs! Huzzah! Also, my brother has a wall-mounted 42" wide-screen plasma TV. After seeing football on that, I never wanted to leave. *drools* I only have two complaints about our trip to NH: the 10hr drive (with my dad navigating, it became 11hrs), and the fact that their basement has absolutely NO heating vents whatsoever. I was sleeping in that basement. At least I like it cold when I sleep, but it's so darn hard to get out of bed when it's hovering just above zero.
Also, I may be doing physiotherapy for my bad left shoulder, and I've got a nice infection in my mouth that could lead to a root canal if it doesn't start to get better. Last but not least, I turn 19 tomorrow! Legal boozing! Whee! |

| | Metallica - Fuel (S&M edition) | ] | Well, it seems that the large quantity of rum I ingested last night had no adverse effects on me, which is good.
Today I managed to get most of my xmas shopping done, just one more thing I need to pick up at the mall tomorrow. I visited the Eatons Centre for the first time today, and bloody hell it's big. Took me forever to find the book I was looking for in the Indigo store there, but whatever.
It seems that UW has fucked up and lost my change of sequence form. I'm not completely sure where it got lost, as my CS advisor thought he signed it and sent it to the co-op people, and my co-op advisor knew that I was doing it... meh. As long as I don't have to pay any type of fees, I'll be happy. |

| | System of a Down - Dreaming | ] | So... I've had the equivalent of about 12 shots of Bacardi, spread over three rum&cokes. And I'm a bit tipsy. Grr. Guess I'm never going to get drunk when I'm footing the bill. |

| | Dream Theater - Never Enough | ] | The guy who owns the Liberty Cafe (where me and my co-workers go for coffee 2-3 times per day) rules. Period. When we were going for our coffee run this morning, just as we were getting there, he was chasing a guy outside who was trying to walk out without paying. He actually grabbed the guy by the arm and dragged him back inside, where the guy then handed the stuff back, and left swearing. Five minutes later, the guy comes back saying "I have money this time!". The owner basically sprints out and throws the guy out. Literally throws. He tossed him down the stairs in front of the building, while they guy was yelling "It's because I'm young and black, isn't it?". The owner's response? "No, it's because you have no fucking money! Get the fuck out!". |

| | Dream Theater - Honor Thy Father | ] | So our main internet router at work is a bitch. It randomly drops our FTP connections, but only if it's on port 21, and only if it's anonymous, and only if it's going into the root directory. *stabstabstab*
I'm the IT Manager. This means that it's up to me to unbreak this. So yesterday, I decided to experiment and make sure it was the router and not our ISP. So I connected a PC straight to our DSL backup. Worked fine. PC->Main Internet. Worked fine. PC->Router->DSL. Worked fine. PC->Router->Main Internet. No. *brain asplodes*
So it seems that when our router sees that it's connected to our main internet, it decides that it's going to randomly drop connections because it hates us. But it likes Sympatico. DAMNITALLTOTHEFOULESTDEPTHSOFBLOODYHELL!!!!!!1111oneone111oneone11cos(0) |

| | System of a Down - Holy Mountains | ] | Looks like I may be getting another computer soon. One of my housemates works in IT for Direct Energy, and as such, he can take home computers that they're going to replace, at no cost to him. He's going to try to get me one of them. They have good specs for free PCs. 1.6ghz P4, 768MB of RAM, 40GB HDD, 17" flatscreen CRT. I'll probably throw Gentoo on it and use it as a dev box. |

| | Green Day - Whatsername | ] | Well, it looks like I'm not going back to UWaterloo until Fall06! iNTERFACEWARE, the company I'm at right now, is bringing me on full-time (with a raise, nonetheless!) for eight months. Woot. This should make up for the abysmal marks from last semester. It also appears that I'm going to New Hampshire for Xmas, although I'll be driving down on Christmas Eve. 12 hour drive. Yay. At least I can alternate with my dad to make it not quite as bad. Oh well. I get to see my brother and my nephews, along with getting interrogated by his wife, so it's all good. |
